About Us

Dale Schielke has been building and maintaining nesting boxes for over 40 years.  Special emphasis has been made to involve youth in assembling the boxes and learning about wood ducks and wildlife conservation.

Dale was featured as a Hero of Conservation in Field and Stream magazine in December 2012.  He was named as Wildlife Conservationist of the Year by the Benton Conservation District  in 2013.  The Washington Association of Conservation Districts presented Dale and the Richland Rod and Gun Club with a Special Recognition award in 2014 for Their Wood Duck Nesting Box Program.  In 2016 The Washington State Department of Wildlife awarded Dale with the prestigious "Volunteer of the Year."
